In this project we were asked to convert an unwanted garage into a cinema room.
After seeing our work at another clients and a subsequent visit to our showrooms it was obvious that the client did not want to compromise. We knew the room would always be modestly proportioned, but we did not want that to mean modest performance. On the contrary, it meant that extra headroom and performance could be designed in with ease. Space was dedicated to acoustic treatment that did not impact usable space. The ceiling was lowered to allow for absorption, lighting and cabling. This not only improved performance, but also improved the room proportions. The room felt less tall and narrow. Bringing the front wall forward had the same effect, creating space for acoustic absorption and improving room proportions.
In terms of audio, the client settled on Wisdom Audio Sage Line 2 speakers for the front of the room. And Wisdom Audio P4i side and surround speakers. Audio video processing was done by the Storm Audio Core 16 processor, music streaming was by Innuos via their Zen Mini Mk3 with the upgraded linear power supply.
All elements of the design and build were handled in house by the team at Hidden Home Technology. From the basic garage conversion, air conditioning, heating and electrical rewire, through to interior design, lighting design, acoustic design and the final installation.
The client has been overjoyed with the system and uses it every day for enjoying music and film as well as hosting friends and entertaining. We delivered a luxury space to be proud of that is a joy to be in.
